Sunidhi Chauhan shares how she tweaked 'Agar Tum Saath Ho' scene while working as an AD on Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone's 'Tamasha' | – Times of India

Famed for her mesmerising vocals, Sunidhi Chauhan has long enchanted fans, but her talents reach beyond the mic. Stepping into the world of filmmaking, she worked as an assistant director on Tamasha, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
Recently, the singer shared a surprising detail: she made some tweaks to the iconic Agar Tum Saath Ho tabletop scene between the lead stars. In a chat with Sucharita Tyagi, Sunidhi opened up about her experience working as an assistant director on Tamasha, directed by Imtiaz Ali.She expressed her deep admiration for Ali and shared how their rapport led to his invitation for her to join the project. Despite juggling her own show at the time, she eagerly embraced the chance to observe the filmmaking process firsthand.

The iconic singer confessed that she felt “terrified” by the demands of being an assistant director, particularly when it came to managing crowds during shoots. She also observed that many onlookers recognized her, often remarking on her striking resemblance to the famous singer.

She revealed that while in Delhi for the Agar Tum Saath Ho shoot, she made some adjustments, saying, “I fixed a few things in the shot, like how certain junior artists would sit in the crowd.” She emphasized that being able to refine these details was an important part of her role as an assistant director.

As she observed Imtiaz directing Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, she was struck by his approach—guiding the actors without depending on the lens or monitor. Instead, he engaged with them directly, allowing her to feel as if she were experiencing the film’s creation through his distinctive vision.
Sunidhi described the experience as magical, marveling at how the actors seamlessly embraced Imtiaz Ali’s unique style, truly capturing the essence of his filmmaking.
