The New York Jets have gone through a lot in their history.

Even so, it’s hard to remember a tougher time for them than the present day.

They were supposed to be a Super Bowl contender and seemed to be poised for a strong season, but that hasn’t been the case at all.

It seems like all the decisions they’ve made have been the wrong ones, and Aaron Rodgers, their expected savior, has looked like a shell of himself out there.

That’s why Stephen A. Smith believes this could be a stain on his legacy.

Talking on ESPN’s “First Take,” Smith stated that as much as Rodgers is one of the greatest of all time and a future first-ballot Hall of Famer, he’s risking fading into oblivion after this failed tenure (via ClutchPoints).

Smith claimed that the Jets’ decision to give Rodgers everything he wanted has backfired, adding that the team looks less enthused to play with him than they were last season without him.

He also thinks there are some obvious issues with coaching, and they might not go away any time soon.

Truth be told, given the kind of talent they put together, this Jets team could go down as one of the biggest disappointments in professional sports history.

Rodgers may or may not decide to come back for another season.

But if he does come back next season, it’s going to take some elite coaching and a lot of accountability to turn things around.
