‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Unveils Season 3 Teaser, Announces Rhys Darby As Guest Star

Paramount+ unveiled a preview clip of the forthcoming third season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds at New York Comic Con today, alongside the news that guest star Rhys Darby (Our Flag Means Death) would be aboard for the ride.

Based on the years Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise, the CBS Studios-produced series follows the leader and his team, which features Science Officer Spock (Ethan Peck), and Number One (Rebecca Romijn), in the years before Captain Kirk boarded the starship, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.

While no release date is set, the new installment is set to debut in 2025. The series has already been renewed for a fourth season.

The three-minute clip follows the ship outmaneuvering and eventually outpacing enemy combatants. Its release follows an earlier preview shared in late July, alongside the news of Cillian O’Sullivan (In from the Cold) joining as a recurring guest star in the legacy role of Dr. Roger Korby. Meanwhile, details of Darby’s character have yet to be revealed.

The news came during the Star Trek universe panel at NYCC, with a surprise panel consisting of cast members Peck and Carol Kane in conversation with executive producers and co-showrunners Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers, moderated by CBS News national correspondent Vladimir Duthiers.

In addition to the aforementioned stars, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun and Martin Quinn appear, along with special guest star Paul Wesley. Along with CBS Studios, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment produce. Alex Kurtzman, Jenny Lumet, Aaron Baiers, Dana Horgan, Davy Perez, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers, along with showrunners Goldsman and Myers.

Part of the Star Trek franchise on Paramount+, the streamer also houses animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks, upcoming original movie and Michelle Yeoh vehicle Star Trek: Section 31 and the new Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, currently in production.
