Sebastian Stan had pondered a lot before deciding to play Donald Trump on screen.
The actor, who played the 2024 Republican presidential nominee in The Apprentice, discussed what led him to take on the role of the businessman.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on November 4th, Stan shared, “What essentially started with my sort of dismissive, judgmental attitude toward this guy started to shape into something bigger,” he explained.
“Which was not just about this guy, but also about a certain mindset and this idea of the American dream as we know it.”
The 42-year-old actor talked about his obsession with the “American dream.”
He shared that he had moved to the United States when he was only 12 years old.
Stan continued, describing how his mom encouraged this dream: “My mom, in New York City, pointed to the Twin Towers, and all around us, and said, ‘This is the promised land, this is the land of the free, this is the land of opportunity.
This is where you can become someone, and I sacrificed my life for you to get here.'”
This resonated with the Romanian actor a lot, as he admitted to being obsessed with this idea ever since.
He went on to add that he has been immensely lucky to live the life he once dreamed of.
