Ryan Reynolds’ mother, Tammy, turned the big eight-oh on Monday, December 2.
Celebrating the incredible milestone, the Deadpool star took to his Instagram to pen a heartfelt tribute for his mother, which featured his signature blend of humour and affection.
“Tam Tam is 80!!! Wishing my mom the happiest birthday,” Reynolds, 48, wrote alongside a video montage featuring Tammy and family memories.
Reynolds then hilariously wove in the plot of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial into his birthday tribute, writing, “I still remember the first time I saw her. I was sitting in the backyard one night, holding a flashlight and dozing off. Suddenly she just came waddling out of the shed. It scared the s*** out of me!”
The father of four then narrated the iconic flying bike from Steven Spielberg’s 1982 hit film, replacing E.T. with his mother. “Later she waddled back into her spacecraft and left Earth forever, even though I saw her like four times today alone,” he added.
On a serious note, Reynolds wrote, “Happy Birthday mom. You are the best mom. We love you. Your grandbabies love you.”
“Most importantly, [Hugh Jackman] loves you,” he added, shouting out his Deadpool & Wolverine costar.
The carousel also featured photos of Tammy with family members, including Ryan’s brother Terry and his wife Blake Lively, as well as appearances by fitness trainer Don Saladino and Deadpool director Shawn Levy.
Tammy raised four sons — Ryan, Terry, Jeff, and Patrick — alongside her late husband, Jim Reynolds, who passed away in 2015. Through Ryan and Blake, she is also the proud grandmother of four, including baby Olin, born earlier this year.
