Prince Harry appeared to have honoured a royal rule despite his grievances with the Firm as he sets off on a new journey.
The Duke of Sussex chose a quirky and fun way to make a special announcement for the upcoming Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 in February.
In a hilarious skit, Harry gets a fake tattoo in order to rope in country singer Jelly Roll to headline the closing ceremony of the Games.
As the Need a Favor musician tries to convince Harry to give him his first tattoo in exchange for performing at the ceremony, the royal makes a pointed statement about the rule.
“We’re giving you a tattoo about the Invictus Games,” Jelly Roll says in the video.
“No, I came here to ask you to do the Invictus Games. There’s no tattoo in this. I can’t get a tattoo,” Harry said in response.
It appears that the promotional skit was shot back in September when the Duke had visited New York to attend multiple high-profile events for his charities as he was spotted leaving a New York City tattoo parlour, East Side Ink.
Now, it seems that Harry, who stepped down from his senior royal position in 2020, in fact didn’t defy a major rule in an act of defiance.
Members of the royal family are reportedly not known to get tattoos as it is something frowned upon.
However, the royal family’s stance on body art is a little murky as there are members who have sported tattoos in the past, but it has been considered a sign of rebellion and defiance.
Ever since his move to the US, Prince Harry has been embroiled in a rift with his father King Charles and brother Prince William. While there have been speculations about a possible reconciliations, nothing has been confirmed from either camps.
