Gladiator II star Paul Mescal has broken his silence on the fan-theory about an uncanny resemblance between Daisy Edgar-Jones and Joseph Quinn.
The two have sent fans wild over their eerily resembling looks despite not being related by blood.
Social media users are convinced that the two are ‘doppelgangers’ because of how much Daisy, 26, and Joseph, 30, look alike.
The Irish actor, 28, who starred with Daisy in Normal People and Gladiator II with Joseph seemingly also agrees with the fan theory.
The BAFTA winning actor admitted that he saw the resemblance even before the theory emerged online but the Stranger Things star dismissed it.
“We talked about this actually in an interview the other day and he wasn’t convinced,” he said, in conversation with Marie Claire Australia.
Paul revealed that he was relieved to hear that fans agree with him, “I was like, I’m glad that the internet seconds my thoughts that they look alike.”
Daisy herself has also addressed the online memes claiming that she resembles Joseph.
“I haven’t been mistaken for Joe Quinn,” she told Josh Horowitz at the promotion of her film Twisters earlier this year.
Unlike Joseph, Daisy seems to agree with the fans, “But, people have told me I look like a female Joe Quinn. I see it.”
The actors’ fans have made this a running joke that Paul only signs a movie if one of his co-stars look like the Fresh actress.
“Mescal had in his contract that at least one actor must look like Daisy Edgar-Jones,” wrote one fan.
Another chimed in, “Joe Quinn grew his facial hair out so he wont be mistaken for Daisy Edgar-Jones.”
