Patriots rookie WR had ‘hiccup’ on London trip (report)

FOXBOROUGH — Some new details have come to light about New England’s trip overseas.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, rookie wideout Javon Baker had an issue with the team’s schedule while abroad.

“Before the Patriots can trust rookie receiver Javon Baker on the field, the fourth-round pick from Central Florida needs to earn more trust off it,” Reiss wrote. “Baker had a ‘hiccup’ in London last week when it came to following at least one part of the team’s itinerary, according to a team source, and was inactive for a third straight game.”

The Patriots listed Baker as questionable with an illness against the Jaguars — he missed Friday’s practice — and wound up inactive for the game. The rookie hasn’t played a snap since Week 3.

This could also explain K.J. Osborn’s odd weekend.

After catching a touchdown pass in London, Osborn shared an eye-opening Instagram message about the week leading up to it.

The post Osborn shared was a message from a friend, agent Brandon Abdala. It said Osborn had been told he was going to be inactive last Wednesday, got three reps during the week at practice, then found out he’d be playing vs. the Jaguars at 11 p.m. on Saturday night. In the Patriots locker room on Wednesday afternoon, Osborn verified the message’s truth.

“Everything I said was accurate, but as far as that situation, it was handled,” Osborn said. “The rest I’ll keep in house, but it was accurate.”
