At 1-6, the Carolina Panthers are barreling toward having the NFL’s worst record for the second consecutive season.

The Panthers invested heavily into both sides of the football this offseason, but it hasn’t amounted to much as they are still struggling to find their way.

Bryce Young is slated to start at quarterback in Week 8 against the Denver Broncos after Andy Dalton was involved in a car accident earlier in the week.

It’s a great opportunity for Young to prove he’s still got what it takes to be a starter in the league, though going up against a ferocious Denver defense won’t be helpful.

Defensively, the Panthers will also be shorthanded.

Ahead of the matchup, the team announced a few roster changes.

“Nick Scott placed on IR, among other safety moves,” the team wrote on X.

Scott suffered a hamstring injury in the Week 7 loss to the Washington Commanders and will now miss at least the next four games.

Meanwhile, the team activated safety Sam Franklin Jr. from injured reserve and signed safety Russ Yeast from the practice squad.

Carolina also activated cornerback Caleb Farley and quarterback Jack Plummer from the practice squad.

Overall, the Panthers are likely heading for another loss and will thus need to start considering trading some of their veterans prior to the upcoming deadline to boost their draft capital and begin preparations for next season.
