The Carolina Panthers are in line for another fruitless season as they sit at 1-5 entering Week 7 of the 2024 NFL season.

Carolina already made a drastic change to try to salvage its season by benching quarterback Bryce Young in favor of veteran Andy Dalton.

Dalton has made the offense look respectable, though the defense still leaves much to be desired as it struggles to cover every area of the field.

The Panthers are soft in the run game and are susceptible to explosive plays in the passing game, a poor formula for getting stops.

Unfortunately for Carolina, they don’t get a reprieve in Week 7 as they’ll take on the Washington Commanders, who have one of the most efficient and explosive offenses in the league.

Ahead of the tough matchup, the Panthers announced they made some changes to their defensive personnel.

Panthers elevate Shaq Lawson and Shaquille Quarterman from the practice squad, released Troy Hill and waived Andrew Raym,” Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston wrote on X.

Defensive end Lawson and linebacker Quarterman are in line to get snaps given the state of the defense, though they’ll have their work cut out for them trying to slow down Jayden Daniels.

The Commanders quarterback is the early favorite for NFL Rookie of the Year as he’s been a threat throwing the football deep or keeping it himself and creating on the ground.

Dual-threat quarterbacks like Daniels are always tough to plan for, so it’ll be interesting to see how the Panthers defense holds up.
