A man who was waiting for a bus was injured Wednesday when a tire on an NJ Transit bus blew out as it was departing from the Port Authority Bus Terminal Wednesday evening.
The tire ruptured on a Route 190 bus that was scheduled to leave at 6:05 p.m. for Broadway Bus Terminal in Paterson and broke some glass at the gate, said Anjali Hemphill, an NJ Transit spokesperson.
Bus terminal gates are glass-enclosed waiting areas between roads in the terminal.
Port Authority police found three people injured. A man who had multiple cuts to his legs was taken to the hospital for evaluation, said Lenis Valens, a Port Authority spokesperson.
Two other passengers had minor injuries and refused further medical attention, she said.
Gate 232 was reopened at 6 a.m. Thursday, Valens said.
