    N.J. police fatally shoot man when house fire investigation erupts in gunfire



    Police shot and killed a man Saturday in a rural section of a southern New Jersey township after authorities initially responded to a report of a house fire, according to state officials.

    The shooting happened in the Browns Mills section of Pemberton Township, Burlington County, the state Attorney General’s Office said Sunday. The man was not identified.

    Officials said a firearm was found near the man during the investigation.
