Mass. student charged after he showed gun on campus, police say

A Brockton High School student was arrested after he showed a gun on campus, the Brockton Police Department said in a statement.

The high school’s administrators were told Wednesday afternoon that a 17-year-old student showed a gun in a “walking area” of Campanelli Stadium on Tuesday, the police said. The stadium touches school property.

School administrators told the school’s police about the incident. Officers found the teen in a vehicle in the school’s parking lot and arrested him, according to the police statement.

He was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. More charges may come, the statement reads.

The school’s police haven’t found the gun as of Thursday, police added. They are still investigating this incident.

The gun was never inside the school building and there were no injuries reported, police added. The school police said this was an isolated incident and that it didn’t pose a danger to the broader school community.
