Macaulay Culkin’s son loves Home Alone.
The actor, best known for his role as Kevin McCallister in the beloved holiday classic Home Alone, recently shared a heartwarming story about his 3-year-old son Dakota’s reaction to the iconic film.
Speaking to E! News, the actor revealed that his eldest child, whom he shares with fiancée Brenda Song, has taken quite a liking to the 1990 movie.
According to Culkin, Dakota not only enjoys watching the film but also hilariously believes he is Kevin.
“He thinks he’s Kevin,” Culkin shared. “I’m like, ‘Do you remember going down the stairs on the sled?’ He’s like, ‘Mmhmm, yep. Sure do.’” The actor continued, “I’m like, ‘Do you remember when he had yellow hair?’ And he’s like, ‘Uh-huh, yep.’”
Culkin went on to explain how Dakota insists he also “fought the burglars” in real life, prompting a playful response from his dad: “You’re a lying liar who lies. That was me!”
Home Alone, released in 1990, became a holiday favorite and also starred Catherine O’Hara, John Heard, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, and Culkin’s brother Kieran Culkin.
The film’s success led to the 1992 sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
This isn’t the first time Culkin has shared his son’s affection for the movie.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight last December, the actor said, “I already showed it to him last year; he thinks it’s so funny. I convinced my oldest that he’s the kid in the movie.”
Culkin and Song, who began dating in 2018, are also parents to a younger son, age two.
