King Charles, who kicked off his Australian royal tour with a church service on Sunday, made a statement after receiving a warm welcome.
The office of the monarch shared a clip of the Charles and Camilla making their way to the church and shared the special message alongside it.
“G’day Sydney!” the message began with the classic local greeting. “Thank you to everyone who came out to St Thomas’ Church this morning to say hello to Their Majesties, as their first day of engagements in Australia got underway.”
The church service was the beginning of the six-day tour in Down Under with a hectic schedule lined up for the royal couple.
Following the service, Charles and Camilla will be meeting state Premier Chris Minns to celebrate the Bicentenary of the Legislative Council, and then they will meet Australia’s Governor-General Sam Mostyn.
Charles’ Australian tour is not only first after his shocking cancer diagnosis, but it is also the first time a reigning King has stepped foot on the Australian soil.
Meanwhile, Charles has visited the country a total of 16 times now, and previously attended school for six months as a teenager in 1966.
