Karwa Chauth 2024: What Women Should Do If They Don't Have Sieve To See The Moon – News18

This year, Karwa Chauth will be celebrated on October 20.

When the moon rises and you do not have a sieve, take a fine yellow cloth and, with someone’s help, hold it up to view the moon and perform the Karwa Chauth ritual.

Karwa Chauth 2024 is an important Hindu festival celebrated by married women in India and other parts of the world. This year, Karwa Chauth will be celebrated on Sunday, October 20, 2024. It is also known as Karak Chaturthi, where Karwa or Karak stands for an earthen pot through which water called Argha is offered to the moon. The earthen pot, also known as “Karwa” or “Karak”, holds great significance in the Karwa Chauth festival.

On this day, women observe a fast for the long life of their husbands, staying without water all day and breaking the fast in the evening after the moon rises. During the ritual, women view the moon through a sieve, but what if you don’t have a sieve? In such a situation, how should you view the moon, and what is the solution provided in religious scriptures? Bhopal-based astrologer Pandit Yogesh Choure gives a solution for this.

How to See the Moon Without a Sieve?

On the day of Karva Chauth, it sometimes happens that you are unable to find a sieve in the market, or the sieve you brought breaks or gets lost. In such cases, you cannot use an old sieve for the ritual, and you may wonder how to view the moon without one.

You should know that if such a situation arises, there is no need to worry, as astrology offers a solution. According to it, in the absence of a sieve, you can use a fine cloth to view the moon.

When the moon rises and you do not have a sieve, take a fine yellow cloth and, with someone’s help, hold it up to view the moon and perform the ritual. Doing this will not cause any faults in the observance of the ritual.
