During their 2020 debate, Both Baldwin and Carrey amplified the politician’s mannerisms and speech, which many viewers enjoyed. Carrey personified Biden’s quirkiness and smiles, and Baldwin sounded almost exactly like Trump. Carrey’s portrayal of Biden was short-lived on SNL, and he stepped down shortly thereafter; he posted on Twitter, “Though my term was only meant to be 6 weeks, I was thrilled to be elected as your SNL President…comedy’s highest call of duty. I would love to forward knowing that Biden was the victor because I nailed that s***. But I am just one in a long line of proud, fighting SNL Bidens!” Baldwin’s Presidential term on SNL also ended that year; he wrote on Twitter: “I don’t believe I’ve ever been this overjoyed to lose a job before!”
