The devotees believe that a diya brings positive energy along with the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi to the house. Furthermore, it also brings in grains and wealth to the house.
A diya is to be lit at the temple of the house. However, lighting it after sunset during the time of Pradosh Kaal is considered an auspicious act. It pleases the Goddess and your house is filled with happiness and prosperity.
