Diddy Likely To Face More Charges As Feds Slam Lawyer's 'Racism' Argument

Federal prosecutors have offered a response to Sean “Diddy” Combs‘ legal team’s claim that the rapper’s prosecution is a witchhunt of a “successful black man.”

In a new hearing for the Bad Boy founder case, the Assistant United States Attorney argued that the claim was baseless and also hinted at more charges being brought up in the future.

Diddy is currently being held in a detention center in New York and recently filed for bail for a third time after two previous attempts were denied.

Recently, Diddy’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, claimed that the case against the rapper was a “takedown of a successful Black man,” suggesting that racism played a role in the prosecution.

While the comment was made on a public platform, federal prosecutors chose to address it instead in a new hearing for Diddy to determine the status of the case.

According to TMZ, the Assistant United States Attorney argued that the claim from Diddy’s attorney was “baseless,” and the prosecution of the rapper was in no way motivated by racism like Agnifilo had claimed.

He also denied that the prosecution had leaked grand jury information to the press after Diddy’s legal team sought a gag order from the presiding judge.

Diddy is currently facing serious charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

The combination of these felony charges could potentially land the music mogul in prison for life. However, federal prosecutors appear to be far from finished with their case against him.

In the hearing, they revealed that a supplementary indictment could be filed if new charges arise from Diddy’s relationship with at least one other sex worker, a matter currently under review by a grand jury.

More charges may also emerge from other areas of the investigation, as the prosecution disclosed that they seized terabytes of electronic data during raids on Diddy’s home and are still in the process of thoroughly analyzing the information.

During the hearing, the judge revealed that a possible date for Diddy’s trial would be in May if every necessary initial process could be concluded on time.

This includes handing over evidence in the case, for which Diddy’s legal team has already filed a motion to expedite.

Both the prosecution and Diddy’s team may also file other pre-trial motions to resolve any specific issues that might occur before the date.

Potential juries will also be interviewed, with both parties looking to select individuals who would render a favorable judgment.

Days after Diddy’s arrest, he was twice denied bail, first by Judge Robyn Tarnofsky and subsequently by Judge Andrew L. Carter Jr.

Following these denials, he was expected to remain in jail until his trial. However, a third opportunity to seek bail presented itself after his case was reassigned to a new judge, Arun Subramanian, on October 3.

Unsurprisingly, Diddy seized this chance to regain his freedom by adding more attorneys to his team and filing new documents to appeal the second bail denial.

At this point, it remains unclear whether the appeal includes a more robust argument or if Diddy’s legal team intends to rely on the judge’s discretion to grant the rapper temporary freedom.

Amid Diddy’s ongoing legal battles, allegations have emerged that his high-profile friends, who allegedly knew about his “freak offs” or partook in them, are hastily deleting incriminating social media posts.

The lawyer representing all 120+ accusers, Tony Buzbee, told Law & Crime Network that he has “no doubt” that a number of celebrity associates are “scrubbing their social media” to “distance themselves” from the embattled rapper and his indictment, sparking concerns of a potential cover-up.

“I have no doubt that there are people right now who know that they were somehow involved in this – who are now scrubbing their social media, who are searching their memories, who are deleting their texts, probably deleting pictures and trying to distance themselves from this,” Buzbee said.

“And we know who they are, or we will find out who they are,” he added. “This is not something that’s going to happen overnight, but I think we’re at the tip of the iceberg here.”
