The Orlando Magic have a surplus of point guards.

Jalen Suggs is the starter, with Cole Anthony providing an offensive spark off the bench and Anthony Black waiting in line to get his opportunity.

The veteran Cory Joseph is also looking to crack the rotation, all while Paolo Banchero also runs the point at times.

That’s why Jalen Suggs’ contract aspirations might put him in a tough spot with the organization.

According to a report by NBA insider Marc Stein, the Gonzaga product is looking to get around $30 million per year in his next contract (via NBA Central).

Suggs is an outstanding defender and solid playmaker, but he has yet to become a factor as a shooter.

So far, he’s averaged 11.5 points with 3.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game on 42.2% shooting and 33.3% from beyond the arc.

Granted, $30 million a year won’t be a lot in a couple of years by NBA standards, but given how stacked his team is and Black’s upside as a pass-first point guard, Suggs’ salary aspirations might lead the team to make a tough decision.

The Magic are an up-and-coming team that should be very fun to watch next season, and if Suggs wants to get paid, he will have more than enough motivation to be at his best and prove his worth.
