This is shaping up to be another disappointing season for the New York Giants, and their fans have apparently given up on quarterback Daniel Jones.
In his sixth NFL season, he hasn’t shown any real improvement in any facet of his game, and through seven games this season he has completed just 62.5 percent of his pass attempts while throwing for 1,442 yards and six touchdowns with four interceptions.
There seems to now be speculation about whether Jones’ starting job is safe, and though he will be New York’s starter in Week 8, some are wondering if head coach Brian Daboll may again pull him from a game, as he did in Week 7 against the Philadelphia Eagles, if things keep going south.
Jones was asked about that possibility, and he deflected the question to Daboll.
“I think after the game, he said to the team that I was the starter going forward,” Jones said, via Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News. “So I’m going through the week preparing to play and play well. But in terms of his plans, it’s a better question for him.”

There was a trickle of hope that the arrival of rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers would give Jones enough of a boost for him to at least be an adequate quarterback.
Nabers has 39 catches for 427 yards and three touchdowns in five games, but it hasn’t seemed to make a difference in Jones’ level of play.
There are people in the New York area who now feel the Giants’ best option is to tank the rest of the season and improve their positioning to be able to select a potential franchise QB in the 2025 NFL Draft.
