A big performance from junior Julianna Critchley helped top-seed Morris Knolls, the No. 12 ranked team in the NJ.com Top-20 rankings, score a 2-1 victory over 16-seed Mendham in Rockaway during the first round of the Morris County Tournament.
Critchley tallied a game-high two goals in the victory. Her second goal of the contest broke up a 1-1 tie during the second half.
The Golden Eagles held off the Patriots from there to punch their ticket to the MCT quarterfinals.
Tariyana Sango had a save in the victory.
Morris Knolls (11-1) will host Montville in the MCT quarterfinals.
Alix Argobright scored a goal in the first half for Mendham (2-7-2) and Arianna Carrero recorded 14 saves in the contest for the Patriots.
