Bruins make small moves to finalize 2024-25 roster

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The Bruins officially designated Matt Poitras, Ian Mitchell and Alec Regula as “injured non-roster” players to bring their roster below the NHL maximum to start the 2024-25 season.

Poitras and Ian Mitchell were both at practice in Florida on Monday but were in non-contract jerseys. Regula has missed most of the preseason.

Boston will carry 13 forwards, seven defensemen and two goalies.

    Forward

Players: Johnny Beecher, Justin Brazeau, Charlie Coyle, Trent Frederic, Morgan Geekie, Max Jones, Mark Kastelic, Cole Koepke, Elias Lindholm, Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak, Riley Tufte, Pavel Zacha

The Bruins will have quite a few newcomers up front. Prized free agent Elias Lindholm highlights a list of four Boston forwards, who’ll be wearing the Spoked B in a regular season game for the first time. He’s joined by Mark Kastelic, who came over in the Linus Ullmark trade and free agents Max Jones, Cole Koepke and Riley Tufte.

Justin Brazeau is on the opening night roster for the first time in his career. He’ll likely start the year on a third line with Trent Frederic and Max Jones. Poitras’ absence, for however long that lasts, will open up playing time for Koepke or Tufte.

    Defense

Players: Brandon Carlo, Hampus Lindholm, Mason Lohrei, Charlie McAvoy, Andrew Peeke, Parker Wotherspoon, Nikita Zadorov

Nikita Zadorov will make his Bruins debut as well among an otherwise familiar group of defensemen.

    Goaltenders

    Joonas Korpisalo, Jeremy Swayman

Korpisalo, who also came in the Ullmark trade, will join newly signed No. 1 Jeremy Swayman in goal.
