Eight weeks into the 2024 NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys have been disappointing.

The Cowboys have proven that Jerry Jones’ failure to improve the roster was a big mistake, and they’re coming off the worst home loss of his time as owner.

On the other hand, the 49ers have struggled mightily with injuries and haven’t been able to hold leads late in games.

That’s why former NFL player Harry Douglas said both teams will approach their “Sunday Night Football” matchup as a playoff game.

“Two desperate teams facing off this weekend for a win,” Douglas said, via “Freddie and Harry.”

The former wide receiver stated that the Cowboys haven’t been able to stop the run all year long, which should be a major issue against a Niners team that will most likely commit to a heavy running game, given the injuries to their wide receivers.

Also, the Niners have had the Cowboys’ number over the past couple of years.

The 49ers are 3-4 this season, which is far from what people expected after they made it to the Super Bowl last season.

The Cowboys are 3-3 and have struggled against winning teams.

Approaching the midpoint of the regular season, this is where good teams pick things up and get on track.

Even if there’s still plenty of football to be played, this could be a make-or-break matchup for these teams.
