Somy Ali has been in the news lately for her comments on the Lawrence Bishnoi, Salman Khan matter. Somy was dating Salman for eight years from 1991 onwards. She had later also accused the actor of physically abusing her. However, post Baba Sidduque’s assassination, Somy has come out in the favour of the actor. She initially said that she wants to have zoom call with Lawrence, which made people think she wants to gang up with him against her ex boyfriend, who she has a grudge on.
But the actress steered clear on why she wanted to have a zoom call with Bishnoi.She had said in an interview with Aaj Tak that she doesn’t want any violence. She said, “All I want is that no one gets murdered. I have no benefit from this. I don’t want any publicity. But I don’t want anyone to get murdered. Whoever is my neighbour, whoever is someone’s friend, no one should get murdered. No one should harm anyone. I am against violence. I have gone on many hunting trips with Salman. I will meet Lawrence Bishnoi in November.”
She further clarified that Salman didn’t know that the black buck is worshipped by this community and she sees no reason why he should apologise. Somy also called Lawrence ‘bewakoof (idiot), and said she wants to meet the Bishnoi community head Devendra when she’s in India in November.
Now after making these comments on the Lawrence-Salman row, Somy has shared an old video interview of Priyanka Chopra which had gone viral on the internet. It sees Priyanka saying that, ‘good girls don’t make history, bold girls make history’.
Priyanka had said this in an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia. She had said, “Good girls don’t make history, bold girls make history. Bold people make history. So, if you want to be the lead actor of your movie which is your life, you got to make choices that are contrary to what you’ve heard. That empowerment, may or may not come from your parents, or your family or your boyfriend. That empowerment comes from you.”
Meanwhile, Somy had also said that she would apologise on Salman’s behalf. “I don’t want Salman’s family or friends, Kajol, Tabu, Ajay Devgan, Raveena or Saif to be harmed. We have law and justice, so what is this that Salman should apologize? No one should be murdered. This is wrong. That’s why I want Lawrence to talk to me. I will explain to him that this is wrong. When I come there in November for vacation, I want to talk to Devendra, who is the leader of the Bishnoi gang. Because Lawrence bewakoof hai (Lawrence is an idiot). When I set him right, I will apologize to him in Salman’s name. Salman told me that he didn’t know that the Bishnoi community worships the Black Buck. It is an 80-acre land, many people go there. It is not that only Salman has gone there till date, so why is he after only him? He only wants publicity. Salman is a good person,” she said.
