Anne Hathaway stirred excitement among fans with a rendition of Sabrina Carpenter’s Please Please Please, from her latest album, Short n’ Sweet.

In an Instagram video, The Idea of You star posted an altered version of the 25-year-old pop sensation’s hit single to encourage voters waiting in long lines at polling stations to stay patient until they could cast their ballots.

“Hey everybody,” Hathaway began, “I hear there are some crazy long lines at college campuses, which is amazing — thank you for showing up to vote! And I just wanted to say, if you’re standing in line right now…”

She then showed off her vocal magic, tweaking Carpenter’s lyrics to deliver her own message.

Please, please, please stay on the line/ Please, please, please, especially at UPenn and Temple, just wait out your time/ Voting is magic, but also annoying/ You’ve waited this long, let’s make it not boring/ Oh please, please, please, hold the line,” the Devil Wears Prada actress serenaded.

Carpenter’s original track, produced by Jack Antonoff and featuring Barry Keoghan, was released on June 6.

In its first week, the song racked up 50.9 million official streams, according to Billboard, marking Carpenter’s most successful streaming week to date.
