Miami Heat fans came out in droves to witness the unveiling of a statue celebrating Dwyane Wade on Sunday.
But instead of praising the statue, people ended up ridiculing it.
The statue was torn apart by fans all over the world who said it didn’t look anything like Wade.
Bill Simmons was one of the many who poked fun at it on the latest episode of his podcast.
According to NBACentral, Simmons said:
“The biggest loser of the day was Dwyane Wade who had the worst statue of all time. It looked like somebody who had emerged from a fire and lived. It was like Jim Carrey’s [Fire Marshal Bill] sketch. Can you imagine having a statue look that bad of yourself being unveiled? What would you even say? ‘Uh, thanks?’ There’s never been a worse sports statue ever. I mean it got rightfully killed today.”

Simmons isn’t the only one who didn’t go easy on the Wade statue.
A lot of people said it looked like a very old man and didn’t even remotely resemble Wade.
Some people felt bad for Wade because this was supposed to be a day of celebration and not memes and jokes.
But Wade seemed very satisfied with everything about the statue and the way it shined a light on his impact in the NBA.
Over time, the talk around this statue will subside and people can simply focus on everything Wade accomplished for the Miami Heat during his lengthy and historic career.
Even though the statue received bad reviews, everyone agreed that Wade deserved the honor.
He is still considered one of the best guards of all time and his legacy will live on forever, no matter how this statue looks.
