A recent incident has put Shilpa Shetty‘s upscale restaurant, ‘Bastian‘, in Mumbai’s Dadar, under scrutiny following the theft of a luxury BMW Z4 convertible valued at Rs 80 lakh. The car was reported stolen from the restaurant‘s parking lot while its owner, businessman Ruhan Khan, was dining with friends.
According to a report by News18 Showsha, Ruhan Khan, a 34-year-old construction entrepreneur residing in Bandra, arrived at ‘Bastian’ around 1 a.m. on Sunday. After handing over his car keys to the valet, he and his friends enjoyed their meal. However, when the restaurant closed around 4 a.m., Khan discovered that his car was missing. “He was shocked to learn that his car disappeared from the parking lot,” an official stated.
CCTV footage revealed that shortly after the valet parked the vehicle in the basement, two individuals arrived in a Jeep Compass. Utilizing advanced hacking techniques, they unlocked the BMW and drove away within minutes of entering the parking area. The swift operation has raised concerns about the security measures in place at ‘Bastian’ and similar venues.
Upon realizing his car was stolen, Khan promptly filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Shivaji Park Police Station. The police have since launched an investigation and are analyzing footage from nearby surveillance cameras to track the movements of the stolen vehicle and identify the suspects involved. A case has been registered under section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, which pertains to theft offenses.
Khan has expressed his dismay at the security lapses observed at such a luxury location. He emphasized the need for improved safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. While police efforts continue to locate both the stolen BMW and those responsible for its theft, Shilpa Shetty has not publicly commented on this incident as of yet.
‘Bastian’, located on the 48th floor of Kohinoor Square, is renowned for its luxurious dining experience and has become a popular destination for celebrities.
