The Los Angeles Dodgers lead the New York Yankees two games to zero in the World Series.

After defeating the Yankees by a score of four to two on Saturday, the Dodgers take a two-game lead into game three as the series moves to New York.

The offensive star power on the Dodgers roster is undeniable, and it appears they will try to add another slugger for 2025.

According to MLB Insider Jon Heyman, the Dodgers will enter the sweepstakes to sign Juan Soto this offseason as he becomes a free agent.

“The Dodgers are halfway to beating the Yankees in the World Series, and word is they have interest in signing Yankees superstar Juan Soto, according to people familiar with their thinking,” Heyman wrote.

Soto’s free agency will likely be the most popular story after the World Series concludes as he enters free agency.

The Yankees are likely going to try to sign Soto to a multi-year contract, but now the Dodgers, another large market team, appear to be planning on pursuing Soto as well.

Soto had a great year for the Yankees as he batted .288 with 41 home runs, 109 runs batted in, and a .989 on-base plus slugging percentage.

It appears that the strange Shohei Ohtani contract will allow the Dodgers to pursue Soto and offer the kind of money he will likely be looking for.

Ohtani signed a 10-year contract with the Dodgers worth $700 million, but $680 million of it is deferred until 2034.

For the 10 seasons of baseball Ohtani will play, he will only make $2 million per year and then get $68 million per year for 10 years starting after the 2034 season.

The Dodgers could potentially be a powerhouse next season if they are to land Soto this offseason, and it will without a doubt be the biggest story to watch post-World Series.
