LeBron James has started an NBA season 2-0 eleven times in his 22-year career.

    That includes this season.

Notably, that’s quite an encouraging sign for J.J. Redick and the Los Angeles Lakers.

As pointed out by Stats Mamba and Legion Hoops on X, LeBron has made it to the NBA Finals every single time he’s started the season 2-0.

To be fair, he’s reached the ultimate stage in almost half of the seasons he’s been in the league, including eight consecutive appearances between 2011 and 2018.

On a less encouraging note, James does have a 22-33 record in the NBA Finals, and he’s lost six of the ten series he’s played there to date, so it’s not like just making the biggest stage guarantees he’s going to win.

Also, they still have 80 more regular-season games to play.

The early results have been very positive for J.J. Redick.

The Lakers were in control during the season opener vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves, and they made some big adjustments to come back and beat the Phoenix Suns.

James hasn’t been very aggressive as a scorer, but his playmaking is still on point, and Anthony Davis is embracing a bigger role on offense.

Beating two NBA championship contenders in as many games should have this team highly motivated to keep the ball rolling.

They might not have as much talent as other Western Conference outfits.

Then again, we’ve seen countless teams thrive with the proper coaching, and Redick has aced his first two tests of the season so far.
