Selena Gomez Accidentally Drops Diddy’s Name During Gala

At the Rare Impact Fund Benefit, Selena Gomez swiftly recovered from a small on-stage mistake when she accidentally said Diddy‘s name.

The 32-year-old actress and singer hosted the second annual event on Thursday, October 24, aimed at raising funds for organizations dedicated to providing mental health services for youth.

While delivering her speech, Selena Gomez mentioned several of the organizations the benefit supports, including Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services (DHMS), a group focused on suicide prevention among young people.

Initially, everything went smoothly as Selena discussed the mission of her charity, highlighting its partnership with Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services (DHMS) to support youth suicide prevention.

“They are committed to youth mental health, from suicide prevention training in schools to their drop-in center here in L.A., and their Teen Line lifeline,” Gomez, according to a video obtained by TMZ. “I am very honored to be working with such incredible changemakers.”

When Gomez introduced DHMS’ executive director, she accidentally said “Diddy” instead of “Didi,” which is pronounced “dee-dee.” The audience burst into laughter at her mistake.

“Not Diddy!” one person in the audience, who was filming Gomez’s speech, joked.

“I really am sorry,” Gomez told the room after recovering from the mistake with a laugh.

Although Selena has not directly addressed the extensive sexual assault allegations against Diddy, the disgraced rapper’s legal troubles have dominated headlines for several months.

Sean “Diddy” Combs, once a powerhouse in the hip-hop and music industry, is now embroiled in a series of legal controversies that have severely affected his career and public image.

Over the past year, he has faced numerous allegations, including sexual assault, sex trafficking, and other serious misconduct, with some claims stretching back decades. The situation escalated in November 2023 when singer Cassie Ventura, Combs’ former girlfriend, filed a federal lawsuit accusing him of physical abuse, rape, and coercive control throughout their relationship. She alleged that his abusive behavior extended beyond their private interactions, involving threats and violence.

Although the lawsuit was settled within a day, it triggered a wave of additional allegations from other women, including accusations of sexual assault, drugging, and distributing revenge porn​.

As Diddy’s legal issues continue to escalate, old videos of him with Selena’s ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber, have resurfaced. One clip from 2009 shows a young Bieber, then just 15 years old, discussing his excitement about partying with Diddy.

Now 30, Bieber’s past interactions with the rapper have gained renewed attention amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Diddy’s conduct.

“Right now [Justin is] having 48 hours with Diddy, him and his boy. They’re having the times of their lives,” Diddy, who is nearly 25 years older than the singer, said to the camera. “Like where we hanging out and what we’re doing we can’t really disclose. But it’s definitely a 15-year-old’s dream.”

In the resurfaced footage, Diddy jokingly remarked that he had “custody” of Bieber for the weekend.

Despite their past connection, including resurfaced clips showing Bieber interacting with Diddy during his teenage years, the pop star has remained silent on the matter as the legal drama continues to unfold.

Ashton Kutcher has previously spoke out on the Diddy scandal, including attending Diddy’s get-togethers.

“I’ve got a lot I can’t tell,” Kutcher said during a 2019 “Hot Ones” interview. “Can’t tell that one either. … I’m actually cycling through them. Diddy party stories, man, that was some weird memory lane thing.”

He went on to call his relationship with Diddy “really bizarre.” “It started over ‘Punk’d’ ‘because he was like, ‘Yo, you can’t punk me!’ I was like, ‘I don’t know what to tell you, everybody is on the table.’ That started our conversation,” he recalled. “We became fast friends and we used to just hang out, watch football together.”

50 Cent has revealed that he has been avoiding Diddy’s parties for years, citing long-standing concerns and distancing himself from the embattled music mogul amid ongoing controversies.

“I’ve been very vocal about not going to Puffy parties and doing s— like that,” 50 Cent stated in a July interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve been staying out of that sh-t for years. It’s just an uncomfortable energy connected to it.”

He went on to add: “[Diddy] asked to take me shopping. I thought that was the weirdest sh-t in the world because that might be something that a man says to a woman. And I’m just like, ‘Naw, I’m not f—ing with this weird energy or weird s—,’ coming off the way he was just moving. From that, I wasn’t comfortable around him.”
