Ever since quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered another concussion in Week 2, the Miami Dolphins have struggled, especially on offense.

They have failed to score more than 15 points in a game starting with that Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills, and with a 2-4 record, their chances of making the playoffs are possibly on the line when they host the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8.

Tagovailoa is expected to return to the lineup, and offensive coordinator Frank Smith talked about what that will mean for the team.

“When you have a guy that has been such a leader for us and such a big part of our offense, obviously it’s great to have one of our captains and leaders back in the mix. We’re excited for Sunday,” Smith said, via FinsXtra.

While people across the NFL are split on whether Tagovailoa is a star signal-caller or simply mediocre, he did help Miami establish arguably the league’s most explosive offense last season.

But with him out, the Dolphins have had to make do with Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley.

Thompson took over when Tagovailoa went down, but he suffered a rib injury, forcing Huntley to start Miami’s past three games.

The Dolphins have one of the NFL’s best wide receiver duos in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, but they aren’t going anywhere without a healthy and productive Tagovailoa throwing them the ball.

Tagovailoa led the league with 4,624 passing yards last season as the Dolphins finished first in total yards and second in points while also ranking sixth in rushing yards.
