When you hold Kaudi in your hands and utter a wish to the Goddess Laxmi, it gets fulfilled.

Diwali will be celebrated on October 31.

Diwali, also known as the festival of lights, marks the victory of good over evil. According to the Drik Panchang, it will be celebrated on October 31, while a few astrologers opined that it should be celebrated on November 1. On this day, Goddess Mahalaxmi and Lord Ganesh are worshipped by the devotees. The devotees also offer Kaudi (marine mollusc which has a glossy, brightly patterned domed shell with a long, narrow opening) to the Goddess Laxmi on Diwali. Pandit Hitendra Kumar Sharma, a respected astrologer and vastu consultant, told News 18 Hindi about the places where Kaudi should be kept to attain the blessings of the Goddess. According to popular beliefs, when you hold Kaudi in your hands and utter a wish to the Goddess Laxmi, it gets fulfilled.

1. Safety Locker

The devotees can keep the Kaudi in their home’s locker or safe. This place is considered auspicious because as per religious beliefs, Goddess Lakshmi leaves her heavenly abode and comes down on earth on this day. In this case, when the believers keep Kaudi in the home safe, she becomes happy and showers blessings on them, due to which their house is blessed with happiness and prosperity.

2. Near Tulsi Plant

Many people generally keep a Tulsi plant in their house and it is believed to be a sacred and revered plant. The devotees can also keep the Kaudi near the Tulsi plant on Diwali. With this, the believers can get relief from the financial crisis and their house is also blessed with prosperity. It also mends the troubled family ties in the home.

3. Pooja Ghar (house temple)

The position of the Pooja Ghar in your house should be in the northeast direction. In this place, the devotees should keep Kaudi on Diwali. The believers should keep these items wrapped in red cloth because Goddess Lakshmi is fond of red colour. By doing this, the devotees receive the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi.

The Diwali celebration comprises many rituals and home decorations. It includes-

  • Home Preparations: The devotees decorate their homes with colourful rangoli, lanterns, and strings of lights to invite positivity.

  • Puja Ceremonies: On Diwali, families gather for puja, and offer flowers, sweets, and fruits to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha, invoking their blessings.
