Chris Russo Makes A Bold Statement About Lamar Jackson

The Baltimore Ravens have the best quarterback in football right now.

At least, that’s how First Take co-host Chris “Mad Dog” Russo feels at this moment in time.

“The greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL…This is by far, this year, the best quarterback in football,” Russo emphatically said of Jackson on Thursday.

That statement could very well be one of the more lofty statements any pundit has made so far this season.

Russo might be right in terms of this season.

The two-time MVP has thrown 15 touchdowns and just two interceptions while leading the Baltimore Ravens on a five-game winning streak.

Taking his elite play into account, Baltimore looks like the premiere challenger to Kansas City in the AFC right now.

Now, Russo saying that Jackson might be the greatest quarterback in the history of football is certainly an interesting one.

If he thinks that Jackson is going to be that, then that is different because he is projecting what could happen in the future.

But as things stand right now, the former Heisman winner is just 2-4 in the postseason in his career, and he is only 1-5 against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

There is no doubt that wins are a team stat and that Jackson is one of the most electrifying players in the NFL as things sit right now.

But he does have an uphill climb ahead of him if he wants to be known as the greatest.

That climb starts with winning the Super Bowl this season.
