The Golden State Warriors were in desperate need of another sharpshooter, so they went out and got one of the best in the league.

Buddy Hield, who’s struggled to find his footing in the league, may have found his niche.

The Texas product was on a roll in his debut with the Warriors, knocking down 8 of 12 shots — and 5 of 7 three-pointers — for 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist in just 15 minutes of play.

Hield was the Warriors’ second-best offensive player in the season opener, and Stephen Curry loved every bit of it.

When asked about his new teammate, Curry raved about Hield’s personality and love for the game of basketball (via 95.7 The Game).

The Warriors are a bit of a question mark.

Most people thought they would roll with Brandin Podziemski at the two, with either Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, or Trayce Jackson-Davis coming off the bench.

Podziemski, instead, was the odd man out of the starting lineup, but we’ve seen how fluid things can be with Kerr at the helm.

The fact of the matter is that the Warriors needed someone to step up and provide some of the long-range shooting they lost with Klay Thompson’s departure, and his fellow Bahamas teammate might as well be that guy.

Granted, shooters are streaky, so chances are he won’t be this hot for the entire season.

That’s where the Warriors’ depth will come into play, and it’ll be interesting to see how all the pieces mesh together now that the Splash Brothers era is no more.
