Comedian Bill Maher recently addressed criticism surrounding his dating choices on The Skinny Confidential’s Him & Her podcast. Maher confessed that he isn’t interested in dating women his own age.
“I’m not looking. I’m good,” Maher told hosts Michael Bosstick and Lauryn Evarts Bosstick.
However, he acknowledged that his unavailability makes him more attractive to women. “Nothing that I could have predicted when I was your age came to pass… My dating is not age-appropriate.”
When asked if his love interests were significantly younger, Maher replied bluntly, “Not just perceived, they literally are.” He anticipated backlash but responded defiantly, “The people who are pissed off at that, f*** you. You do you, I do me. You do what works for you.”
Maher also shared his skepticism about marriage, stating, “I don’t believe in it… It would ruin everything.”
He emphasized that his choice to remain unmarried “sure works” for him and encouraged others to make their own decisions, rather than conforming to societal expectations.
“It certainly was in my head for way too long, that you [have to] find the one, like it’s an Easter egg hunt and you find the egg, and then everything’s perfect,” Maher explained. “That’s certainly not the way I’ve ever seen life work, and didn’t work for me.”
Maher clarified, “It’s not that I don’t believe in marriage or acknowledge that some people do have good marriages… I know people who would be lost without this.”
His comments follow rumours of him dating Al Pacino’s ex-girlfriend Noor Alfallah, 30, which she has denied.
