Jakub Zboril will continue his hockey career in Czech Republic.

The Dynamo Pardubice of the Czech Extraliga announced on Sunday it signed the former Boston Bruins defenseman to a contract that runs through the 2028-29 season.

Zboril, the Bruins’ 13th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, played in 76 games in four seasons with Boston. The 27-year-old scored one goal, added 15 assists and averaged 15:38 of ice time. He was traded ahead of the 2023-24 NHL trade deadline for defenseman Andrew Peeke.

The blueliner signed a professional tryout agreement with the New Jersey Devils this offseason in hopes of a fresh start in the NHL. But Zboril didn’t make the team out of camp, became a free agent and never latched on with another team.

Once thought of a top defensive prospect that would turn into a key piece for the Bruins, Zboril never became a mainstay in the lineup. He’s part of the 2015 draft class that has come under much scrutiny due to Jake DeBrusk — who signed with the Vancouver Canucks this offseason — being the only first-round pick from the 2015 draft in which the Bruins had three first-round picks to became a regular on the roster.
