Ex-Giants stars, who are ‘sick for the fans,’ blast Brian Daboll’s team: ‘Completely unacceptable’

It’s another lost season for the Giants.

We know quarterback Daniel Jones is surely a goner after 2024. But what about coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen, who are currently batting through a hot-seat Year 3?

Well, the Giants are 2-5 this year, after that pathetic 28-3 home loss to the Eagles on Sunday. They went 6-11 last season.

If they lose in Pittsburgh next Monday night, that’ll be the seventh time in eight years that they have hit the eight-game mark of a season with two wins or fewer. Which is insane. (The exception, of course, is 2022, when Daboll and Schoen debuted with a wild-card playoff team that opened 7-2.)

    Last year, the Giants started 2-8. From 2017-21, they opened 2-13, 1-7, 2-11, 1-7, and 2-6.

It’s no wonder that players from their glory years — Carl Banks and Lawrence Tynes in particular — are venting on Twitter. This — along with all the losing, poor effort, and terrible offensive play — clearly is not a good sign for Daboll’s job security.

Here’s a sampling of the tweets:

First, these are some of the things Banks — a Ring of Honor linebacker and two-time Super Bowl champion — tweeted after Sunday’s loss. (Remember, he also is the Giants’ current radio analyst.)

    Completely unacceptable.

It started 4weeks ago and continued until it blew up today.. There is no attention to detail and not valuing processions on the offensive side of the ball.

When asked by a fan if Daboll has lost the team: No.. but these players need to find a purpose

Tynes, a kicker, also won two Super Bowls with the Giants, in 2007 and 2011.

Here are some of the things he tweeted Sunday:

I am just sick for the fans. This is unacceptable.

5 rushing attempts by the Giants in the first half? All Pro LT is out and we are nearly 3 to 1 pass/run. Don’t get it.

(The Giants actually ran the ball eight times in the first half Sunday, though five of those carries were by Daniel Jones, who threw 19 passes before halftime. Still, that’s a jarring ratio.)
