The 2024 NFL regular season has been brutal for the Cleveland Browns, as they have gone from a legitimate Super Bowl title contender last season while enduring some significant injuries to being one of the worst offenses in the league this season, with little to no hope of making the NFL playoffs.

One of the most criticized players on the Browns over the course of the first few weeks of the season for the team’s poor play offensively has been star quarterback Deshaun Watson, who didn’t look like the player the team traded for a few years ago in the megadeal with the Houston Texans.

As if Watson’s season wasn’t heading in a bad enough direction, things got a lot worse on Sunday, with the veteran quarterback going down with an Achilles injury against the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals in Cleveland, Ohio, at Huntington Bank Stadium.

After losing to the Bengals, head coach Kevin Stefanski admits that Watson likely suffered a season-ending Achilles injury via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

“Let’s get the tests to confirm, but that is what it looks like,” Stefanski said.

With Watson likely done for the year with another season-ending injury, the Browns will have to turn to Jameis Winston moving forward because Dorian Thompson-Robinson suffered a finger injury after taking over for Watson, forcing Stefanski to go with the veteran journeyman.

Last season, the same thing happened to the Browns, with the team having to turn to Joe Flacco, who helped lead the team into the playoffs, but it remains to be seen if Winston can pull off similar success in Cleveland.
