Actor Anupam Kher is popularly known for playing a variety of characters in his career spanning four decades, is married to actress Kirron Kher for the second time in 1985, and has a stepson, Sikander.
In a recent interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Anupam Kher shared that while he hadn’t felt the absence of having a child of his own much before, in the past seven to eight years, he has occasionally experienced that feeling.
Kher added that although he’s happy with Sikander, he now sometimes thinks it would have been joyful to witness a child growing up and forming a bond. Kher candidly admitted that while it’s not a tragedy in his life, he sometimes believes it would have been a nice experience.
The senior actor further explained that while he had been extremely busy with work for much of his life, after turning 50-55, he began to feel a sense of void. This feeling was partly due to Kirron and Sikander becoming increasingly occupied with their own commitments.
Anupam also revealed that working with kids through his organization, The Anupam Kher Foundation, often reminds him of what it might have been like to have children of his own. However, he clarified that it’s not something he views as a loss, despite occasionally feeling that way when seeing his friends’ children.
According to Lehren, it was revealed that Anupam and Kirron Kher had attempted to have a child together but were unsuccessful, even after seeking medical assistance. Anupam had been previously married to actress Madhumati Kapoor, while Kirron was formerly married to Gautam Berry.
On the work front, Anupam Kher is gearing up for his much-awaited film ‘Tanvi: The Great’. It marks Kher’s second directorial effort, following his 2002 debut ‘Om Jai Jagadish’, which featured an ensemble cast including Anil Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahima Chaudhry, Urmila Matondkar, Tara Sharma, and Waheeda Rehman. Apart from this, Anupam Kher will also be seen in the YRF Production ‘Vijay 69’.
