Giants make QB change amid Eagles blowout

Giants backup quarterback Drew Lock entered the game for Daniel Jones with 11:26 of the fourth quarter, as the Eagles were crushing them, 28-3.

The 27-year-old Jones finished the game with 99 yards through the air on 14-of-21 passing and 20 rushing yards on five carries. He did not record a touchdown or an interception.

The move came as the Eagles’ pass rush overwhelmed the terrible Giants offensive line to the tune of seven sacks for 56 yards lost. The Giants were dealing with brutal injury luck on their line this week, with All-Pro left Andrew Thomas undergoing season-ending surgery on his foot.

Left tackle Josh Ezeudu, a draft bust who was drafted in the third round in 2021, started at left tackle on Sunday and the drop off was noticeable.

The 2-4 Giants could not get anything rolling on offense with Jones under center, with the team totaling just 104 yards and nine first downs before his fourth-quarter benching.

Jones has a $23 million injury guarantee, which would make it difficult for ownership to cut ties with him this offseason should he suffer a severe enough injury, so the benching was likely a means to save him as the offensive line struggled.

The Eagles also made a QB change late in the game, with Kenny Pickett taking over for Jalen Hurts as Philadelphia controlled the scoreboard.
