King Charles, Camilla attend first royal engagement in Australia

King Charles and Queen Camilla commence their Australian tour with a church service at the St Thomas’ Anglican Church on Sunday.

After taking a rest day, the royal couple was greeted by hundreds early morning, including the church’s Sunday school children who waved Australian flags.

Charles, dressed in a pale grey suit, and Camilla, wearing a pale green Anna Valentine dress with a coat and straw hat by Lock & Co, were escorted by the Archbishop of Sydney, the Most Reverend Kanishka Raffel, who also officiated the service.

The royal couple appeared refreshed and in good spirits after taking their much-needed break. Upon their arrival, Charles and Camilla were presented by a bouquet of flowers by a 12-year-old boy Ky and his sister Charlotte through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Following the church service, the head of state and his wife will be meeting up with state Premier Chris Minns to celebrate the Bicentenary of the Legislative Council, followed by a meeting with Australia’s Governor-General Sam Mostyn.

This is the monarch’s first international tour since his cancer diagnosis in February this year. Meanwhile, for Australia, this is the first time a reigning King as stepped foot on the country’s soil.
