King Charles and Queen Camilla skip public appearances during Australian tour

King Charles and Queen Camilla opted for a low-key approach on the second day of their much-anticipated royal tour of Australia, skipping public engagements.

After receiving a warm welcome and participating in several events on their first day, the royal couple chose to take a “rest day” to recharge for their busy schedule ahead.

Their visit, which began on Friday, spans six high-profile days and likely requires some adjustment to the time difference.

This strategic downtime allows Their Majesties to prepare for the upcoming events while ensuring they remain refreshed and ready for the engagements ahead.

King Charles’s visit to Australia marks a significant milestone as it is his first overseas tour since his cancer diagnosis and his inaugural trip to the nation as its head of state.

This visit also coincides with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa, which will be the first for the King in his role as Head of the Commonwealth.

Reports suggest that the 75-year-old monarch will temporarily pause his cancer treatment for the duration of this long-haul trip but plans to resume it upon his return to the UK.

Since his diagnosis with an undisclosed form of cancer in February, following treatment for an enlarged prostate, this tour holds particular importance.

During their time in Australia, the King and Queen Camilla will engage with locals and participate in a community barbecue in western Sydney—a cherished tradition of Australian culture.
