There’s an argument that can be made that the wide receiver position in the NFL is more talented than it has ever been, with star players all over the league, from Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins to Ja’Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals and Minnesota Vikings superstar Justin Jefferson, to name just a few.

Although there are a few players in the conversation for best wide receiver in the league, and some who might eventually get there, like rookies Malik Nabers and Marvin Harrison Jr., Jefferson may be the cream of the crop, as he only seems to be getting better and hasn’t missed a beat catching passes from Sam Darnold instead of Kirk Cousins.

One person who knows what it takes to be the NFL’s elite wide receiver is San Francisco 49ers legend Jerry Rice.

The consensus among current and past NFL players seems to be that Rice is the best the league has ever seen at wide receiver, with Randy Moss likely next in line because of his lack of Super Bowl titles.

Therefore, Rice’s opinion is respected, especially when he names Jefferson as his favorite wide receiver in the league today.

“What he does on the football field is just incredible. … I would say J.J. is the guy because he can do it all,” Rice said on “Carlin vs. Joe.”

Even though Rice named current 49ers stars Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel and Jauan Jennings, the three-time Super Bowl champion has a soft spot for Jefferson.

With the Vikings playing at a high level right now, there’s a chance Jefferson can win that elusive first ring if Minnesota can continue to dominate moving forward.
