The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Guardians in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series behind Gerrit Cole.

The ace took the mound and threw 4.1 innings, allowing six hits, two earned runs and four walks while striking out four.

Cole didn’t factor into the decision and struggled a little with his control, but it was enough for New York to get the win and head to Cleveland with a chance to sweep the series.

Before Game 3, Cole was asked about his favorite Yankees player to watch.

“Don’t make me pick favorite players, I love them all,” Cole said, via MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM.

Cole explained how the Yankees lineup complements each other well and they pass the baton to score runs.

Most fans would probably answer this question by saying Aaron Judge or Juan Soto, but Cole enjoys watching his entire team perform.

The Yankees have 27 World Series titles, the most in MLB history.

However, they have not won a World Series since 2009, and Cole joined the Yankees in 2020.

The former Pittsburgh Pirates and Houston Astros star has been dominant in the postseason over his career, shown by his 2.98 earned run average and 146 strikeouts in 20 games started.

The Yankees are two games away from another World Series appearance, and Cole wants nothing more than to get a ring with this team.

Games 3, 4 and 5 (if necessary) take place in Cleveland, and the series could potentially end there.

Then, their World Series opponent would be either the Los Angeles Dodgers or New York Mets, who are competing in the National League Championship Series.
